Zenith 8G005YT Trans-Oceanic (1947)
(suitcase tube portable radio w/SW)

Zenith 8G005YT Trans-Oceanic (1947)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Completely restored; all of the older capacitors have been replaced, all tubes checked, the entire set has been thoroughly gone through and is working very well. The 8G005YT uses eight tubes; all loctal type tubes, except for the rectifier, which is a 117Z6 glass tube octal. The audio output uses two 1LB4 tubes in a push/pull circuit. Because of the extra tube lineup, a 1.5v Z-1 type battery has to be connected in series with the Z-985 AB battery when the radio is operated on battery power. The extra 1.5v is added to the filament circuit (A+). The 8G005 series radios were the first post-WWII Trans-Oceanics, and are considered the most electronically complicated of the Trans-Oceanics. The handsome tuning dial surrounded by a brass bezel which also surrounds four red Radiorgan Tone Switches below. The radio has three antennas one, the oval shaped one seen attached to the very top, also the Pop-Up Wave-Rod, a 3-foot telescopic antenna. Then you have inside the back cover the red Zenith Short-Wave Magnet. 16-3/4"W x 11"H x 7-3/4"D.
