THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Pilot "Blue Peter" (1949). Completely restored and working to perfection is this British Pilot radio with all new modern capacitors, some resistors checked and replaced too, all tubes checked and any that needed to be replaced were replaced with new or test like new tubes. The beautiful solid Burled Tiger Wood cabinet has been professionally refinished. The green tuning eye tube is nice and bright, it opens and closes perfectly. The colorful dial lights up. This radio has the AM band and four other short wave bands five bands in all and brings in many stations strong and clear and with a real good antenna after sundown short-wave comes in pretty good. I have attached about a ten foot antenna drop wire to the back for extra good reception and a ground wire works well on this TRF type set too. The radio as can be seen has a very nice back cover. What's the meaning of the name "Blue Peter?" you wonder. The Blue Peter was originally a blue maritime signal flag meaning the letter "P" or outward bound and flown to warn the ships crew they about to sail. 19-1/4"W x 15"H x 9-1/4"D. |
