Selexatune RR56B Coin Operated Radio
(wood other radio)

Selexatune RR56B Coin Operated Radio

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Well, here's a radio you do not see every day. The person I purchased this from claimed they were used in the rooms at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. When the Sands was built in 1952, they did have 200 rooms at that time. Coin operated radios were popular and it has the look and location since it was made in Glendale CA. It also has the "S" in the grille which works for Selexatune or Sands. I do have an old brown card that is stamped No. 838 and dated 1957 Sands Motel Las Vegas. It's not much to go by, but it's fun to think that Dino may have put a dime in this. The radio is in excellent original condition. It is hard to believe the care the radio received given it was used in a hotel room. It even has the original key to open the back and it is complete except for the container to collect the dimes. The card is still there that says, "Insert 1 dime for 30 minutes of entertainment." Some of the Selexatune decal is still there. The chassis has been serviced and it plays great. The coin mechanism and timer are not functional. A unique piece with a shelf to display more radios! 26-1/2"H x 17"W x 17"D.
