THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Offered here is an early Sony twelve-transistor AM/FM portable radio from 1959. This radio was expensive in its day ($119 back in 1959). It is the second FM transistor radio that Sony produced. This classic features a beautiful reverse painted dial and smart looking metal mesh grille. It has two telescoping antennas that hide in the handle when folded down. At the bottom right, there is a tone switch. Click here to learn more about this model. This gem is in excellent collector condition. It is all original and the cabinet is blemish free. Both antennas are straight and complete. When four "C" batteries were inserted, the radio played as you would hope on both bands. The volume is strong and the sensitivity of both bands is impressive. Not all early radios pull FM stations well, but this one does. |
