Howard 20 Cathedral (1931)
(x tube cathedral radio)

Howard 20 Cathedral (1931)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Howard Radio was a small and much higher end maker of radios, based in Chicago. They started their business as a parts maker in the early twenties and lasted until 1949. They were able to make the company survive by making very high quality radios. If there was any town in America where the competition was the most difficult, Chicago was it. Here is a very ornate cathedral radio. As you can see, the level of woodwork is exceptional. The burl over the arch, I think, is Birdseye Maple, stained dark. Regardless, the set is stunning and with the original finish. This radio has enjoyed the same very complete and thorough restoration that all of my radios receive. The set has been detailed all the way through, even with a reproduction power cord (silk), and Bakelite plug. The radio is a solid seven tube receiver, and ready to offer you years of very good service. This is a larger set: 18"H x 15"W x 12"D.
