Novelty Bakelite Tube Radio. This Raymond Loewy Design is highly sought after and a great addition to any collection. This example is the Brown Bakelite and it is in excellent condition. The gold lettering and outlines are in great condition. The original advertisement description: "A globe...revolving reproduction of the earth...and authentic delineation of seas, continents and cities...correct in longitude and latitude...a circling gold band with tuning knobs at the sides...and axis topped with a chronological cap for determining the world's relative time...a double-grille speaker base in keeping with the interesting and useful design...all done in heavily molded Bakelite with 22-karat gold plated metal trim. The receiver, mounted in the globe, is a five-tube super heterodyne. Its engineering features include: Automatic Volume Control, 3-Gang Condenser, Dynamic Speaker, Illuminated Sunken Dial.
