Air Castle 470 Tombstone (1935)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Air Castle 470 Tombstone (1935)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Air Castle was the house brand for Spiegel and Macy's in Chicago. Clearly designed as a deluxe two band receiver, this radio is a beauty. Note the fine detail, with birds-eye maple highlights on the shoulders and top of the cabinet. The top is further enhanced with book matched American walnut over a fluted molding at the top of the cabinet. I had this beauty professionally refinished; it deserved the additional expense. The speaker cloth is a perfect reproduction of the original, and the "top hat" wooden knobs are factory originals. Note the double globe dial, which is brightly lit by a pair of lamps. The chassis is a high caliber seven-tube super-het and it sings, with the fine engineering. My technician has done a complete repair to this set, and a full alignment to the tuner. He added a fine silk reproduction power cord and Bakelite plug for your safe use. 17-1/2"H x 13-1/2"W x 11"D.
