General Electric J-80 Cathedral (1932)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

General Electric J-80 Cathedral (1932)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here is one of the true classics! This is a wonderful eight-tube early super-het with automatic volume control. Often copied, this is a set that was how cathedral radios got that moniker, as the radio's form mimics a Gothic church profile. The condition is factory original, in very good shape. The speaker cloth and knobs, are also perfect factory installed parts with an unusually clean chassis. Sure, there a few scuff with the largest a scrape on the left side (see photo), but clearly a understandable and minor issue. My technician has done a fine job in the repairs and the radio plays on the broadcast band with a remarkable degree of sensitivity. His work included complete replacement of the filter caps, and condensers and resisters as needed. The tuner is perfectly aligned and the power cord and plug, reproductions identical to the original. This is a truly great set to own. 19"H x 14"W x 11"D.
