Sparton 252 (Canada) (1935)

Sparton 252 (Canada) (1935)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Those of you that are regulars to my page note my fondness for Canadian made radios. They were simply better built, both in electronics which was more tightly controlled by the government, and cabinetry. The population of Canada was small in those years, so there were a limited number of factories and a tiny number of sets produced. This is the same Sparton Radio Corp, that made radios in the States, but since they were producing in another country, were a distinctly Canadian company. This is a very fine five-tube broadcast receiver. The radio is rather unusual in the shape of the cabinet and with a green colored dial. The example here is about as good as you could wish, with everything being factory original parts and finish. The radio lived such a good life, we left the factory power cord on this set with it still being perfectly safe for regular use. My tech loved the repair of the older components, remarking on the higher level of quality of the set. 18-1/2"W x 9"H x 8-1/2"D.
