Philco 70 Cathedral (1933)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

Philco 70 Cathedral (1933)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Long recognized as the classic cathedral radio, the Philco 70 is a beauty. Designed by the famous Edward Combs, the "70" was the next to the top of the line. This seven-tube powerhouse is a tremendous super-het. The radio had the very latest technology. The condition is very good considering it is 80 years old. Clearly the radio is an older and skillfully refinished cabinet. It has all the factory-installed parts and accurate reproduction speaker cloth. The radio has been refinished with a correct luster, hand rubbed lacquer finish. Note the dial is backlit by the dial light, difficult to get a decent photo. The markings on the dial show clearly when the radio is on. The collector did a very nice job. Les has done a complete and perfect repair. The radio plays loud and clearly with an excellent level of selectivity. Les installed at no charge a mini-jack for your modern device. This will allow to listen to any content of your choice. The radio has a fine silk reproduction replacement cord with a new Bakelite plug for your safe use. A "Grand Cathedral" at 18-1/2"H x 16-1/2"W x 12"D.
