(wood tube tombstone radio)

Stewart-Warner R-1261 "the York" Tombstone (1933)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is a very collectable radio. The radio is the second in line to the model Ritz, which is the largest of the series. Wildly Deco for the times, these radios married both superior performances with unique and edgy design. The radio is a large tombstone, and has a commanding appearance. The radio originally offered three band receptions but today it offers AM only. The advanced seven-tube early super-het had all of the refinements such as automatic volume control. The sound from these radios is the combination of the large 8-inch speaker and large cabinet make for terrific sonic. The cabinet needed to be refinished, completed by my expert with 55 years of experience did well. The radio has period correct replacement speaker cloth and the factory saucer shaped knobs. My tech has completed his professional repairs and for an early super-het, the radio plays terrifically. His repairs added a mini-jack so you can connect any modern type of device. This will allow you to connect your phone, pad or any other type of electronic and listen to the unlimited choice of content. Bluetooth is available for an additional $25. 19-1/4"H x 15"W x 13-3/4"D.
