Philco 80B (Jr.) Mini Cathedral (1933)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

Philco 80B (Jr.) Mini Cathedral (1933)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

From the height of the depression era came what I call the "Model T" of radios. It's a four tube superhet that was simple but powerful for its size and affordable for most any family. In the days before TV, radio provided most all of the home entertainment. This set has been completely restored and it plays loud and clear and my guarantee applies. There are two very rare globe type tubes that stand out when you look at the back. The rectifier is a Sylvania and it has a pristine green leaf logo on the top. These two tubes alone are worth a great part of my asking price. The early Philcos had Bakelite "block" capacitors inside and I don't throw them away but I "restuff" them with new fresh modern capacitors which will last for decades to come. Also the filters (check out the polished copper Mershon) in the same manner I restuff them. See the last photo, the top half shows where I replaced the old guts and the bottom half shows everything replaced back into the chassis. Own a working piece of American history! About 21 pounds packed. 14"H x 12"W x 8"D.
