Kadette 53 (International Radio) (1936)
(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW)

Kadette 53 (International Radio) (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here is a very nice relic from the mid thirties. Kadette is the brand name for International Radio Corp of Ann Arbor, MI. This is a five-tube superheterodyne with three bands: AM broadcast and two shortwave bands. The circuit in this model is the earlier version that doesn't have AVC so it will tend to be very loud on local stations; you may need to adjust the volume between stations. The radio plays loud and clear and has good sensitivity. I have restored it completely with all new resistors and capacitors and a full alignment. The cabinet has been refinished in satin lacquer. The "airplane" type dial is very attractive especially when illuminated. The knobs are genuine original wood knobs. Grille cloth is new. The cord is a new cloth cord and the speaker cable is also a new cloth cable. I added a plug on the speaker to make servicing much easier. 16-1/2H x 13-1/2W x 9"D. About 23 lbs packed.
