This nice old tombstone style radio is the product of Stromberg Carlson Telephone Mfg. Co. of Rochester, NY. They made quality telephone, radio and other electronic products in the first half of the 20th century. Cabinet is walnut finish veneer, finish has been renewed by new coats of lacquer over the original finish. It has original stickers, UL label and tube layout on rear of chassis. All visible components are original including the knobs, line cord, grille cloth, speaker and all above chassis parts except the tubes, which have been tested. Cord has a repair. Underneath, all capacitors, except the micas, have have been replaced, as have all off-tolerance resistors. It is an excellent performer, good tone, and covers 540 kHz to 18 mHz, broadcast and two short wave bands. The cabinet is very substantial and weighs 27 pounds. 19"H x 15"W x 10"D. |
