Wilcox-Gay 8J10 "Recordette" (1950)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This suitcase portable AM receiver/recorder recorded "off air" or from a microphone (not included) onto then-available 78 RPM blank recording discs via a crystal pickup/record cartridge. The cartridge has long ago "expired." I am not sure the one in place is the original but appears to be. There is a standard RCA type jack for microphone input on the panel and it requires a high output crystal microphone. The cutter guide screw works. Discs are still available. The recording stylus is missing; it screws into an extension on the front of the cartridge. The unit is in sound mechanical and electrical condition, but the "airplane cloth" cover is worn and dirty. All old paper capacitors were replaced and it has new AC cord. I do not represent that parts are available to refurbish the record function, but can refer to a cartridge rebuilder or source of playback cartridges for the phono function. Shipping at cost. 18"W x 6"H x 13"D; about 25 pounds. Get this one for only
