Introduced in late 1954 through early 1959, the S-38D is the fourth version of the five generation Hallicrafters S-38 series. It is a general coverage receiver and has these tuning ranges: 0.55-1.6, 1.7-5, 5-14 and 13-30 MHz. Bandspread: 0-100. Features include: Headphone Jack (tip type on back panel), dial lamp, BFO and built-in speaker. A slide switch on the rear panel selects audio to either the headphones or speaker. There are screw terminals for antenna input. It is a five tube receiver, has been recapped and aligned and the dial pointer strings have been replaced. It performs very well with 10 foot length of antenna wire (longer the better). Cosmetically not perfect but certainly acceptable, has very clean chassis. Chassis pics available, please ask. 105-125 VAC 50-60 Hz. 13"W x 7"H x 9"D, weighs 11 pounds. |
