THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
After World War II ended there was a resurgence of interest in FM radio (there was an early FM band, no longer active), but there were few options available, short of buying a new radio that had FM. Many citizens had AM radios with a phono input, so Pilot Radio Corporation in Brooklyn NY, designed and produced this FM tuner that received FM signals and created the audio signal that could be used in existing radios via the phono input. The Pilot Pilotuner T601 was one of the first FM receivers built after approval of the new 3m-band. It has nine tuned FM circuits. This has been refinished with lacquer, electronically restored and is in perfect working condition. Simply plug the phono jack into your existing AM radio or amplifier, plug the tuner in and turn it on and you can listen to FM through your vintage radio. The chassis is immaculate and I can email pictures if you would like to review them. Small at 9"W x 7"H x 6"D, it is the perfect companion for your 1940s (or earlier) AM radio! 90 day warranty applies. |
