Delco R-1401 Portable (1939)
(suitcase tube portable radio)

Delco R-1401 Portable (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This unique AM portable radio has a unique striped case made from Tolex and the overall appearance resembles a small suitcase. When we got the radio the left side has faded to a whitish color so the case was re-stained and now it looks fantastic. Our technician tested and replaced a bad tube, one electrolytic, six metal film capacitors, and performed IF and RF alignment. He created a battery box to be able to use ordinary 9 volt and 1.5 volt batteries. He used alkaline batteries so the radio should last for six months if played constantly, and for three to five years if played less frequently. This radio is truly a rare find and it plays great!
