SABA (Schwarzalder Apparate-Bau-Anstalt) was founded originally in the Black Forest area of southwestern Germany by Herman Schwer (1877-1936) in Villingen. Radio set construction commenced in 1927. One mechanical feature which set SABA apart from its German competition was its automatic station scanning and automatic frequency control which enabled optimal radio reception to be achieved. Both our Freiburg 14 and 400 models possess these features. This export model features 13 tubes; it receives AM, FM (to 108 MHz), and two SW bands. It has five loudspeakers, Automatic Tuning, a rotating ferrite antenna, a Fisher Audio MPX-75 Stereo Adapter, which performs better than most other stereo decoders, and features a re-finished wooden cabinet. This radio plays very well! About 27-2/3"W x 17-3/4"H x 12-1/4"D. |
