TV collectors especially prize sets with Channel 1, which is found only on the very earliest TVs of the post-War era (the FCC deleted Channel 1 in 1948). This Hallicrafters 505 is the early version of this model which includes Channel 1. Other factors that make this TV interesting include the unusual "13 buttons in a row" tuning selector and the fact that it was made by Hallicrafters, a name better known for its communications and ham radio equipment. This set has been electrically restored (new capacitors, strong tubes, selenium rectifiers removed, a full audio and video alignment, etc.) so you can use it to watch your favorite old shows (or current TV if you want). I can advise you on suitable analog TV signal sources. The cabinet and back needed a lot of restoration work on this one, so some scars are visible, but overall it is very presentable, and a good value for the price. This set has a 7" screen and is small/light enough that shipping won't break the bank. 20-1/4"W x 11-1/2"H x 17"D; 33 lbs. |
