Zenith 5-S-127 (1937)
(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW)

Zenith 5-S-127 (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here's a wonderful Zenith tombstone with the famous big black dial. With its finely geared "split second" tuning and detailed graphics (multicolor when illuminated from behind by the dial light), this Zenith really caught the attention of buyers both in 1937 and today. The cabinet design is a beauty as well. Check out the marvelous walnut figure veneer pattern around the dial and knobs! This radio is a superb performer with good sensitivity, great sound, and surprisingly good short wave reception as well as AM. It covers 540 kHz to 19 MHz in 3 bands. Chassis restoration included all new capacitors and resistors, a strong set of tubes, a new vintage style cloth power cord, and a full RF and IF alignment, with lots of extra effort to get the dial calibration correct on all bands. These Zeniths also need a lot of mechanical TLC. This one has a tuning belt that really works well, without slippage or that "spongy" feel. New rubber mounts were installed for the tuning cap and dial, as well as for the whole chassis, so everything is positioned correctly. If you don't have a Zenith black dial yet, this is a terrific one to acquire! 18-1/2"H x 13-1/2"W x 9-1/2"D.
