THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Would you like to own a radio that probably no one else has? This Sentinel Bakelite midget from 1939 is the only photographed radio of this model I can find on the internet. The rotating horizontal dial and the front cabinet design with its vertical logo are quite attractive. It's quite presentable, but not in perfect condition; the top view shows a crack through the top in the lower right of the picture, and the front view shows surface crack in the lower right. This radio has a four-tube superhet circuit that by 1939 was rather primitive. The detector tube doubles as a regenerative IF stage. Works reasonably well, but does not match a typical five-tube radio in sensitivity. The primitive circuitry may explain why it sold poorly and is now rare as can be. All that being said, I've restored it to work like new, with a strong set of tubes, a new power cord and internal diode dropper to replace the original resistor line cord, new capacitors, a full RF/IF alignment. Lighted dial. Original factory-installed antenna longwire still intact. Compact and lightweight; will be cheap to ship. 7-3/4"W x 5-3/4"H x 5"D. |
