TV collectors especially prize sets with Channel 1, which is found only on the very earliest TVs of the post-War era (the FCC deleted Channel 1 in 1948). This Hallicrafters 505 is the early version of this model which includes Channel 1. Other factors that make this TV interesting include the unusual "13 buttons in a row" tuning selector and the fact that it was made by Hallicrafters, a name better known for its communications and ham radio equipment. This set has been electrically restored (new capacitors, strong tubes, selenium rectifiers removed, a full audio and video alignment, etc.) so it works like new. The 7-inch 7JP4 CRT is a good one and quite bright for an electrostatic tube. I can help you hook this set up to modern signal sources (DVD player, DTV converter, etc.). 20-1/4"W x 11-1/2"H x 17"D. |
