Temple G-415 Portable (1948)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This one is in "as found" condition. I've never tried to restore it. It's a nifty little radio that's rarely seen. Templetone Radio Manufacturing Company, which operated in New London, CT in the mid to late 1940's, made about 50 different radio styles under the Temple brand in small quantities during its short lifespan. The most commonly seen is the 1947 Temple G-418 radio called the Lunchbox. It was an economy model that probably sold for about $15 and picked up four or five stations. This G-415 has a larger case and was quite well made for the era. The Temple radios did fairly well, but the Templetone company ran into trouble. They went out of business in 1949 after they made their first TV; it turned out to be the Edsel of early TV's. The design was poor and the transformers burned out, putting them into bankruptcy. A nice display model to add to your collection.
