Firestone R-1661-A (1936)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Firestone R-1661-A (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Firestone once sold their own branded appliances, including radios, within their tire stores. The seven-tube set, in its walnut cabinet, was just a very small step below much larger console radios in terms of sound quality. It was the top model Firestone offered in their 1936-37 line-up. With an 8-inch speaker, advanced electronic design for its time, it rivaled the best sets of its day and considering it was manufactured by Stewart Warner, that was no surprise. The bright, new green magic tuning eye is mesmerizing to see in a darkened room as is the drop dead gorgeous 6-inch graphic rich dial with the airplane dial pointer. The knobs are unique with their Art Deco design. This cabinet has been lovingly refinished using the very finest grain fillers, and lacquers, producing a beautiful luster. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs and is internally fused for your safety), and it plays very nicely on the AM and the two shortwave bands. I've added an MP3 input for your listening enjoyment should you wish listen to your own supplied music. 20-1/4"W x 11-1/2"H x 9-1/2"D.
