Nice detailed stationized dial and a new, bright, mesmerizing green magic eye tube. Beautiful ribbed accents on the left side and a very stylish Art Deco influenced speaker grille. The book-matched veneer top is rather stunning and certainly intricate work for the day. The cabinet has been refinished using the very finest toning and finishing lacquers, producing a lovely luster. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs, it is internally fused and has a polarized line cord for your safety), has tonal control, and it sounds and plays very nicely on the AM broadcast band. The shortwave band, which covered 1.5 to 5 megacycles (limited today mainly to ham radio operators), was disabled, a common security practice when a foreign alien was living in the United States when WWII began. By law, radio shops were instructed to disable any radios belonging to this group when servicing their radios. 14-3/4"W x 9"H x 7"D. |
