THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
During the late 1930s through the early 1940s, Majestic became quite involved in what we refer to today as novelty radios in order to supplement their business. What they did was to in actuality create a whole new market for themselves by introducing the Charlie McCarthy, Lone Ranger, Rudolph and the Melody Cruiser. Of all those, the Melody Cruiser is by far at the top in both looks and design. I've had this particular Majestic in my own collection for several decades and it has the nicest original finish I personally have ever seen, even the original grille cloth and knobs are in place. Look at the sails and the wire rigging; that is what Majestic uses for an antenna. Very clever indeed! This is one gorgeous radio. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs, internally fused for your safety and has a new polarized power cord) and it plays very well on the AM broadcast band. 20"W x 17"H x 5-1/2"D. |
