Detrola 302 "Teardrop" (1939)
(wood tube table radio)

Detrola 302 "Teardrop" (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Detrola's triangular shaped "Teardrop" was a hit as soon as it landed in the radio dealers' stores in the early fall of 1939 and was intended to draw customers' attention to their new 1940 lineup. Introduced in the twenty-dollar price range, with recent design improvements such as automatic volume control, self-starting synchronous clock, built in antenna and five-tube superheterodyne circuit, it was a big sales success! The cabinet has been refinished using the very finest toning and finishing lacquers, producing a gorgeous luster, paying respect to the original detailed finish and intricate veneer accents and inlays. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs, internally fused for your safety and has a new polarized power cord), and it plays very nicely on the AM band. Notice that the original back, clock, clock switch and labels are in place as they should be, which is something you don't often see with this model. The clock, though cleaned and lubed, is sometimes intermittent. I must say this is quite a classic. 10"W x 9-1/2"H x 4"D.
