RCA Victor 56X (1945)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

RCA Victor 56X (1945)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

When you say "Bakelite table radio" to a collector, this might be the one that they picture. RCA built many subtle variants on this rugged, well-designed, sweet-sounding set, but the cabinet remained much the same, with its pretty curves and machine-age details. Six tubes plus tone control plus a bigger-than-usual speaker make this set sound great. It's been recapped, tubes checked, switches and moving parts lubricated, aligned, and a new, safe power cord has been installed for many years of service. The dial glass has been cleaned and the cabinet cleaned and lightly polished. There is one noticeable flaw in the cabinet, a large "flea bite" (more like a mouse bite) on the edge of the ridge on top, near the back, visible in the photo showing the left side of the cabinet. There are also a few scratches remaining; as is my usual practice, I clean and polish enough to bring out the shine but leave it up to the new caretaker whether or not to continue polishing or to leave the cabinet with some character marks. This will be packed to my usual high standards. Father's Day is coming soon; get it now as a gift or for your deserving self!
