Zenith 12-U-159 Console (1937)
(wood tube console radio w/SW)

Zenith 12-U-159 Console (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

In 1937 if you wanted the best that Zenith offered and couldn't afford a Stratosphere at $750, then this was it at a price of $175. This twelve-tube, four-band (SB, SW1, SW2, and UHF) radio was one step below in the line. It has two 6L6 power tubes for push-pull audio driving a 12" speaker and a 6" speaker with 17 watts of power. This large dial is used on the 12-U-158 and the 12-U-159 only, and is the largest dial, other than the Stratosphere dial, that Zenith made. Blake has done a masterful job of rebuilding the chassis, replacing all the capacitors and any resistors and tubes as needed, and then aligned. This radio can rattle the windows if you want it to! Gary has meticulously refinished the cabinet using grain filler and toners with three coats of catalyzed lacquer. He wet sanded then machine buffed the lacquer to give it an authentic factory, piano-like finish. This gorgeous radio has three kinds of book-matched Walnut with three strips of inlay. This is a heavy radio at 120lbs and it will be professionally packed to arrive at your location in perfect condition. Please call for a freight quote. Ask about delivery in the Pacific NW. 44"H x 26"W x 15"D.
