Philco 70 Cathedral (1931)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

Philco 70 Cathedral (1931)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here is another "Time Capsule" from Joe's Radio Shop. This amazing example of Philco's engineering and cabinet making came from the family of the original owner in Portland, Oregon. The Philco model 70 cathedrals came in mahogany or walnut cabinets. This is a early first series Mahogany cabinet that has had no repairs. Gary has documented the fine airbrush and toner application by the skilled Philco team for other cabinet restorations in the future. The knobs, speaker, speaker cloth, line cord and finish are all original to the set. Blake has replaced the wax/paper capacitors with new Mylar caps of equal values. The tubes and resistors were checked and replaced as necessary and a fuse and audio cable were added. A precision alignment was done, and the radio plays great with a lot of sensitivity, volume and tone. The chassis still has all of its original Zinc Oxide coating with all the original Philco labels. Your new Philco will be professionally packed and shipped Fed Ex to arrive in perfect condition. 18"H x 16-1/2"W x 10"D.
