Zenith 5-S-29 Tombstone (1936)
(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW)

Zenith 5-S-29 Tombstone (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

In 1936, Zenith changed several things in their radios. They started to change over to the black dials with multi-colored bands. Their design of the electronics changed and started to evolve to larger tube counts. Zenith was becoming one of the top three radio manufacturers in the world. The 5-S-29 is a five-tube, three-band (SB,SWx2) set. It features the "split second" tuner. The radio was available in ebony as well. We replaced all of the capacitors. The resistors and tubes were checked and replaced where needed. We added a safety fuse, audio cable and a new power cord. Gary refinished the cabinet with the best products. The quilted maple band around the bottom is gorgeous! Just the right amount of lacquer was applied to create that "piano" finish as it was done at the factory. The original knobs, grille cloth and speaker were retained, making this one gorgeous radio! 18"H x 13"W x 9"D.
