(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Pilot U475 (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The Pilot Radio Corporation was founded by Isidor Goldberg in 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. By 1936, Pilot radios were being sold in 90 countries. Prior to WWII, Pilot was manufacturing radios in London, and during the war produced communication equipment, earning the company the prestigious Army-Navy "E" award for excellence in war equipment. The U475 is a seven-tube, three-band (SB,SWx2) radio. Manufactured in London, this radio was one of the first Pilot radios to feature a tuning-eye tube. All of the capacitors have been replaced with new equivalents. The resistors and tubes were checked and replaced where necessary. The radio has been rewired and set up with a new transformer to operate on 120VAC. A new power cord, safety fuse and external audio cable were installed. Gary stripped the Walnut and Zebrawood veneers and finished with a "piano" lacquer finish. The original knobs, chassis, speaker and back are with the radio. This very rare radio is absolutely gorgeous and will be a unique and wonderful addition to any collection! 24"W x 13"H x 10"D.
