THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Sparton is the brand name of the radio manufacturer Sparks-Withington, Jackson, MI. This very rare model has a stunning look. I have it proudly displayed in my home office. It has multiple veneers and separated by inlaid bands. It has six tubes, AM and SW bands. The chassis was removed and cleaned. All the controls were cleaned and lubricated to work properly and operate smoothly. The rubber mounts on the tuning capacitor were shrunk and hardened and were replaced. All tubes were tested on my Hickok 600A tube tester and weak or defective tubes were replaced with NOS tubes. All electrolytic and wax paper caps were replaced with current production caps. All resistors out of tolerance were replaced and a new polarized AC cord was installed for safety. The cabinet was stripped and I used three different Mohawk tones and it is a real beauty. The cabinet was finished off with multiple coats of Mohawk clear lacquer with light smoothing between coats. The dial glass is pristine and looks great lit up. The radio plays great and is a real joy. |
