THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Stromberg-Carlson was "The Rolls Royce of Radio" for their quality of engineering design and construction. This model is very rare and I have only seen a couple of others in recent years. This is a large radio and sports nine tubes including a green eye tuning tube and push-pull audio amplifier with 10-inch speaker. It has AM and SW. It is a player and impressive to look at. It is in my living room and is a real conversation piece. The chassis was removed and cleaned and all controls were cleaned and lubed. Controls: Volume, Bass, On/Off/Tone and Tuning/Band. All tubes were tested and any weak or defective tubes were replaced with NOS tubes. All electrolytic and wax paper capacitors were replaced with current production capacitors. All resistors were tested and any out of tolerance were replaced. A new polarized AC cord was installed with voltage dropping resistor to keep the voltage in the 108 to 110 range. The cabinet was stripped and refinished with multiple coats of Mohawk nitrocellulose toners and lacquers with light sanding between coats. The grille cloth was torn so it was replaced with a beautiful period reproduction. 24-1/2"W x 12-3/4"H x 10"D. |
