Sparton 132 "Football" (1950)
(plastic tube table radio)

Sparton 132 "Football" (1950)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

A really nice Mid-Century ivory Sparton retro radio from 1950, often referred to as the "Football" radio for obvious reasons, The cases were made out of plastic, and consequently most of the survivors show a lot of wear due to cabinet shape and plastic type (Polystyrene). You rarely find this one without stresses or cracks, if you can find one at all! This case is in very nice shinny condition, but has a few flaws (thus the low affordable price). I've tried to highlight the mentioned "flaws" or imperfections & they are: 1) light stresses on the small piece just to the right of the "Sparton" label on bottom right; 2) on the bottom (not visible from display position, of course) there are three (3) tight hairlines that should show in pics. It does have its original back and original knobs with brass inserts and grille area in near perfect condition. The radio is playing just great, picking up all my local AM stations clearly. Another great radio from my personal, smoke-free collection. The five tube AM only chassis plays well. Great Eames influence in this rare, collectible set! 13"W x 6"H.
