Silvertone 2210 "Poor Man's Catalin" Portable (1952)
(plastic tube portable radio)

Silvertone 2210 "Poor Man's Catalin" Portable (1952)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Beautiful two-toned seldom seen green Silvertone portable with heavy swirling Styrene or Plaskon, not completely sure, but "Poor man's Catalin" for sure. Great example of Mid-Century color radio with lots of swirl. Likely made by Arvin for Sears Roebuck Co. with Silvertone name. It is battery operated, four-tuber, with all original knobs, handle, grille cloth, etc. It takes a 67-1/2 V "B" battery and two 1-1/2 V "A" batteries. I assume the old 67-1/2 volt battery I'm including is dead, but you can definitely hear a click and light static when turned on/off. Very clean battery compartment as you can see + had all the original factory stickers on the bottom + inside. No breaks, repairs, or major scratches. It does show some very light wear as you would expect for a 70 year old. Nothing at all detracting from my point of view. This radio came in three colors, but this is the first green one I ever saw. Only weighs about 3-1/2 lbs. About 8-1/2"W x 6-1/2"H x 3-1/2"D.
