Stewart-Warner R-136A (1936)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Stewart-Warner R-136A (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Somewhat rare and gorgeous, Art Deco large table radio by Stewart-Warner. This is a deluxe radio made under the "Craft-built" label (the factory metal tag is still on the back of the cabinet) and incredible "Magic Dial" Ferrodyne radio. These radios were to compete effectively with the Ingraham Cabinet lines from Emerson and others. The brass escutcheon and "starburst" matching dial is of the double ended or airplane type. Below the dial is a planetary reduction tuning drive (not string driven). This example has been nicely refinished and retains original factory speaker, speaker cloth, dial and knobs, and rust free chassis. This is a seven-tube chassis which plays well on two bands. The radio sounds very rich with short antenna wire. Note the "Magic Dial" (referred to as it is nearly invisible until lit up) for the high accurate tuning this innovation offered. The brightly lit dial has really a dramatic night-time look. 18"W x 13-1/2"H x 11"D.
