Detrola 209EA (1938)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Detrola 209EA (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Big, Bold, Beautiful! Look at the burled walnut top, left side, etc. + other walnut woods used. Great looking wrap around end + step down top. The design is jaw-dropping, Art Deco, and Detrola-only quality. It is all original including finish, knob, dial, push buttons, dial scale, & even the Rolla speaker. The set's wood cabinet is spectacular! I know "rare" is often misused but, this model 209EA is rare. Beautiful large multi-colored & lighted dial gives it pizazz! The bright green tuning eye works perfectly & as designed. I have scores of radio books that help me identify all types of radios. This set is in none of them. I could find nothing on the internet after looking for over an hour, but did find a pic in one magazine with nothing but model number & year. This eight-tube set was restored just over a year ago and is a strong player and even picks up SW with the attached antenna (evening hours of course). In all, a rare find. Detrola was started in 1930 in Detroit & at one time it was the 6th largest radio manufacturer in the world & most of the radios didn't even carry the Detrola name; had separate lines dedicated to names like Truetone, etc. 22"W x 13"H x 9-1/2"D.
