Crosley 817 "Super Eight" (1937)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Crosley 817 "Super Eight" (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The Crosley 817, or "Super 8," called that because of the eight-tube configuration and 8-inch speaker. It still has its original finish except possibly the top which looks perfect tho I suspect it has been refinished. Beautiful walnut veneers & maple inlay plus toned bands of trim from factory. It also presents all original knobs, speaker, dial, possibly grille cloth. This eight-tube set is a strong player picking up all my locals stations & beyond. SW also working, tho better in evenings for my locale and most areas as SW stations are fewer these days. This is one of my favorite radios, combining a beautiful, brass-accented walnut cabinet with brass bands running thru grille area and escutcheon, a perfect "mirror glass" dial. The factory paper schemaic is intact inside the back. It is an older restore, but I did check all the tubes (replaced two which were marginal with stronger ones), cleaned / lubed controls, etc. The chassis is as clean as you will find and rust free. The original cabinet finish shows normal wear around a couple of the knob area. More pics on request. Short antenna wire is needed (supplied). An excellent addition to any collection! 17"W x 10"H x 7"D.
