Philco 37-60 Code 121 (1937)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Philco 37-60 Code 121 (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

While not nearly as common as its cathedral sibling, I think the five tone color scheme on this 1937 Philco 37-60 tombstone makes it the better looking kid in the family. I sure hope you think so, as the refinishing job was a real PITA with all those colors. The four layers of tint on the front make it a very striking radio. My camera was in a foul mood today. The actual color of the set most resembles what you see in the top photo. One miserable little speck in the top finish and a few minor dings are all that mar the otherwise beautiful slick finish. The dark shading on the bottom of the side views is the from the camera. They are actually uniform and gorgeous. I painted over some rust on the top of the chassis. I gave it a full set of very good tubes. I replaced all of the capacitors and resistors, and all of the latex shock mounts. The sound on this radio is very good and receiver sensitivity is excellent. All in all a real eye-catcher, and if you're a Philco guy I bet you don't have one of these. 17"H x 13"W x 9"D.
