Firestone S7398-5 (1939)
(x tube table radio w/SW)

Firestone S7398-5 (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

If this was a car, it would not have many miles on it. All of the tubes were original Firestone tubes and I only had to replace one. Manufactured for Firestone by Stewart-Warner, it is the same chassis as the SW 9001. The cabinet is very attractive. I gave it a nice slick finish with 15 coats of lacquer. A little more to the brown than the camera made it. This one got a gorgeous piece of veneer on its top from the cabinet maker. It performs well on the internal antenna but has a wire for more distant stations and short wave. The sound is outstanding from the perfect speaker. I fabricated a phono plug from an old tube socket that uses the factory phono plug and provided a cable for your mobile devices. A few small veneer repairs that all came out very good. One small repair to the back cover. This is a very good looking, and good sounding radio. The S7398-3 commands much higher prices, even though it is the same chassis. Save some money and buy this one! 19"W x 11"H x 9"D.
