Philco 42-PT-7 (1942)
(wood tube table radio)

Philco 42-PT-7 (1942)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Philco made a good call when they tucked this really sweet little 42-PT-7 into the bottom of their lineup as one of the last of the pre-war offerings. A forerunner of what would become the "All American Five," this little five-tuber is cute as a newborn puppy. The large, angled dial is easy to tune and very eye catching. The 4X6-inch speaker has one small, very well done (self inflicted, darn it!) patch. The sound is not affected, and is pretty good for a little guy. One small crack in the lower right side of the solid wood front. I gave it a very nice finish, with a few small dings and a dust speck or two remaining, none of them objectionable. I replaced almost all of the rubber wiring, all the caps, resistors as necessary and gave it a full alignment. Receives fairly well on the internal antenna, with a wire available for an outside antenna. Broadcast only. Cute as a bug, won't take up much space, and won't break the bank! 12"W x 7-1/2"H x 7-3/4"D.
