Motorola 56LA2 (1956)
(cloth/leather tube portable radio)

Motorola 56LA2 (1956)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is a nice little AC-battery set from Motorola. It has a red leatherette covered case with black plastic and gold trim. The case is near perfect (you usually find these torn up and scratched}. It has a rotatable antenna on top that doubles as the handle. It is a four-tube radio, AM only and was designed to run on batteries or AC. It would be hard to find the batteries these days so plugging it in works as well. It was missing the original cord that plugged in the back, but I modified a new one to fit it. I replaced the filters and weak tubes. It plays out loud and strong on local stations. 1956 was a good year for Motorola and their radios show a set of very unique Mid-Century Modern designs. The "V" shape on the front of this one is pretty neat! It would make a nice addition to your collection of portables or listen to ball games on it. 10"W x 9"H x 3"D.
