Zenith 12-S-265 (1938)
(wood tube console radio w/SW)

Zenith 12-S-265 (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Zenith produced one of the most beautiful cabinets and outstanding radios in 1938 with the 12-S-265 "robot dial" radio. This example has been electronically restored, with all new capacitors and out-of-spec resistors replaced and new tubes as needed including a nice green eye tube. The chassis was taken apart and repainted to a nice Zenith Gold and the shutter mechanism was also disassembled and rebuilt. It operates smoothly and soundlessly. The 12-inch speaker has been reconed and rewired and the radio plays well on all bands. The cabinet was almost completely taken apart and repaired and rebuilt. It has been refinished with period correct toning and clear lacquers. The 12-S-265 has some great features like the "beehive" acoustic adapter to really add a bottom to the bass, and motorized tuning to speed you to the next station. I'm partial to Zenith consoles and especially this one--you will be too!
