Silvertone 1660 (1933)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

Silvertone 1660 (1933)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

I offer a quantity discount on my radios, so check out my other listings and drop me a line if you're interested in more than one. This early Sears Roebuck catalog radio is a nice compact five-tube cathedral; it's been recapped and plays well, receiving all of my local stations. Cabinet has been refinished using spray toners and topped off with a light coat of clear enamel for durability. Featuring wood knobs, a beautiful dial escutcheon with patina still present, and new reproduction pattern grille cloth. It's an early TRF set so you need the long wire connected to an external antenna to receive stations. The antenna is connected directly to the volume control, so the louder you turn the volume, the stronger the stations come in. It takes both hands to tune as these early TRF's have no automatic volume control. Strong stations will blast! 14-1/2"H x 12"W x 8-3/4"D.
