THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
First time on Radio Attic for this ultra rare Colonial tombstone that seems to be patterned after similar Silvertone tombstones in their 1935-36 line up. Even the color scheme of the airplane dial is very similar between the two makes, along with the dial pointer itself. This set is so rare that no schematic could be located anywhere for it! Beyond the rarity of the brand, it's just as scarce to find a set of this vintage that's so amazingly well preserved. The entire cabinet finish is all original, with only minor wear indicative of its age. It was cleaned, treated with Howard's and topped with a light coat of clear enamel to preserve the original luster. The grille cloth, wood knobs, even the Colonial decal are also all original. Heck even the chalk markings from the factory are still inside the cabinet! For those who seek original finish sets, here is an 88-year-old time capsule for you. The five-tube, two band (AM/SW) chassis has been gone through with all new wax and filter capacitors, and out of tolerance resistors replaced. Comes with a strong tested set of tubes. Requires its wire antenna to be connected to an external source for more distant reception. To maintain its unique originality, my standard add-on 3.5mm cord was not installed on this unit. 15-1/2"H x 11-1/4"W x 9-1/4"D. |
