Crosley 11-120 "Buick Front" (1951)

NEW!

Crosley 11-120 "Buick Front" (1951)

This Crosley Retro Buick front icon from 1951, inspired by US mid-century automotive styling, is in minty condition, a really great example of this model. Anyone who is familiar with these radios knows that the metal clock and radio escutcheons almost always show much wear and a lot of tarnishing from 70+ years of use. The metal escutcheons on this set are in excellent condition, still bright and shiny. The paint is original with just a few very tiny paint chips, and the set has its color coordinated clock knobs and the original back. There is also a nearly complete label on the bottom. There are no cracks, cosmetic issues, or repairs to the case. The clock is working quietly and keeping good time. The radio has been checked by a pro, and is playing and picking up all my local AM stations without any problem. If you are looking for a nearly perfect Crosley Buick front in great condition, look no further. About 13"W x 7-1/2"H x 7"D. I will include a copy of an instruction booklet for the model D-25 which is essentially the same radio. Shipping most anywhere in the USA should run between $30 to $35. $259.00. (1150903)

Emerson 540A "Emersonette" (1947)

NEW!

Emerson 540A "Emersonette" (1947)

Post-War Emerson midget in a beautiful fire engine red professionally painted case. The case is in perfect cosmetic condition. No repairs were necessary as there were zero cosmetic issues. The black midget knobs are original, and the case has its original back also in perfect condition. The radio has been recapped, gone completely thru by a professional, and is playing fine, picking up all my local AM stations with an extension of antenna wire attached (included). Here is a description from a 1947 ad for the radio: "Emerson Radio Model 540. World's Smallest AC-DC Superheterodyne. Alnico 5 Permanent Magnetic Dynamic Speaker, Built-In Super Loop, Automatic Volume Control, Many Other Advance 'Big-Set' Features." This is an excellent alternative to the red Plaskon set, usually damaged and priced through the roof! About 6-1/2"W x 4-3/4"H x 3-1/4"D. For a nice story on this set, Google "Tuberadioland Emerson 540A." Shipping should run around $20 +/- $219.00. (1150901)

Motorola 56CC-1 (1957)

NEW!

Motorola 56CC-1 (1957)

A beautiful Motorola Retro clock radio from the 1950's in wonderful cosmetic condition. This radio case is the best of the best that I have ever seen, and I have seen many of these models. These mid 50's Motorola cases, made from urea, almost always have stress cracks, especially up on top. But this case has no cracks, stress cracks or tube burns. Also, there are usually stress cracks around the clock knob openings in the plastic clock cover. But there are absolutely none on this plastic clock cover. The clock is working quietly keeping good time, and the radio is playing well, picking up all my local AM stations clearly. This is the much rarer model with a day and date featured on the clock face. Everything is original. This is as near to perfect Retro radio from the 50's as it gets. About 13"W x 5"H x 5"D. This is a next to impossible model to find without damage. Shipping most anywhere in the USA will run from $25-$30. $259.00. (1150902)

Restoration philosophy

My restoration philosophy is to leave these classic radios in their original condition as much as possible.  I hate refinishing or repainting a set unless it's absolutely necessary.  When this is necessary, I use a professional person for refinishing & repainting.  Over many years, I have attempted to acquire the best original undamaged examples of all models I could find.  They have been restored to playing condition unless noted. Any repairs that have been made, and any cosmetic flaws associated with the radio, are completely disclosed.  Keep in mind that these radios are 60+ years old, and, consequently, are not meant to played all the time.  We all love for these radios to play, but we also recognize that they should not be played all the time.

Warranty information

All radios are tested to make sure they are playing prior to shipping.  A lot of jostling in shipping can make tubes loose and connections become unconnected.  These are some of the unforeseen results associated with shipping.  I have no control over how the shipper treats the package.  If you purchase a radio and it is not working and playing when you receive it, I will offer several suggestions to help it work.  If those suggestions don't solve the problem, you are welcome to ship it back to me for any repairs that are necessary.  The radio will be shipped back to you at my expense, or your purchase price will be completely refunded if the set can't be repaired.

Conditions for return

I want you happy with any radio you purchase from me.  If you're not completely satisfied after receiving the radio, all you have to do is send it back in the same condition as shipped, and I will be happy to return your purchase price.  No sale is complete until you are satisfied.

Shipping

Anyone who has bought a radio over the past years can relate many horror stories about opening a box, and finding a cracked and busted radio inside.  I have experienced this, and consequently I do everything possible to prevent this from happening to you.  A seller really only has three choices for shipping.  I have had the most success using FedEx Ground.  My packing procedure is to wrap the radio in a foam pad (like a mattress pad), wrap that in large bubble wrap, lay the wrapped set on a thick layer of styro peanuts, and surround the package in the box with thick brown packing paper to make sure it's stabilized in the box.  Then top off with a layer of peanuts.  Another secret to safe shipping is to use a box much larger than the radio so there is plenty of room for protection.  When you cram a radio in a box about the same size as the radio (to save on shipping), you are asking for trouble.  Many people double box radios for shipping. I have found that if a radio is packed properly, single boxing is adequate and very safe.  All radios are insured and tracking information sent to the buyer.
