THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The 1930's produced many beautiful and stylish radio cases, but none better than this 1939 Zenith. It is unlike any other design and an icon of the Art Deco period. It was one of Zenith's first sets utilizing Bakelite in the manufacturing process, and was designed by Robert Budlong, one of Zenith's greatest prolific radio engineers. This beautiful set was completely unique with its streamline shape. The radio has to its credit an appearance in one of MGM's great Andy Hardy movies from 1940, "Strike Up the Band," with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. The case has been professionally restored in its original color. There were no repairs necessary as it had no cosmetic issues like chips, cracks, or hairline cracks, just a some minor paint chips. It plays fine picking up all my local stations with just an extended antenna wire. The dial lamp works, and it really lights up the entire beautiful gold dial. It has its original knobs and a brand-new Retro-Tronics back on the case. About 10-1/2"W x 6-1/2"H x 7"D. "ZENITH! The Quality Goes in Before the Name Goes On!"
