I am not sure the kind of wood the cabinet was made from, but you can clearly see the unique burl and pattern. Note the fine trim added at the factory which adds to the decorative effort. The five tube chassis is perfect for an urban environment and with the new old stock wire antenna, should offer fine reception. The radio has received a well deserved total restoration.
